STATEWIDE SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT
Arizona Forward held its first Statewide Sustainability Summit in 2018. The purpose of the inaugural event was inspired by the late Sen. John McCain's vision of transforming the Rio Salado into the Valley's commercial, recreational and residential corridor. The summit also encompassed Tucson's Santa Cruz River Heritage Project. Members explored the potential of urban waterways redevelopment, including a review of successful precedent projects from across the country. They also formulated concepts to forward to the Rio Reimagined working group to ensure that all voices are represented as urban waterways projects move forward in Arizona.
Planning is underway for the 2019 Statewide Sustainability Summit scheduled for spring.
Arizona Forward was founded as Valley Forward in 1969, one year before the first Earth Day. We expanded statewide in 2013.
